Frequently Asked Questions

Many parents tell me the same thing.

Their teen stays in their room, gives one-word answers, shuts down during conversations, or avoids discussing what they're feeling.

The goal isn't to force teens to talk. The goal is to create a safe environment where trust can develop naturally.

Through a blend of counseling and mentorship, many teens gradually begin opening up, understanding their emotions, and communicating in healthier ways when they feel heard rather than judged.

You don't have to wait until a crisis occurs.

Many teens who benefit from support appear fine on the surface.

Signs can include:

  • Increased isolation
  • Constant phone use
  • Emotional outbursts
  • Anxiety
  • Low confidence
  • Declining motivation
  • Family conflict
  • Grief or major life changes
  • Difficulty expressing emotions

Sometimes behavior is the only visible sign that a teen is carrying more than they know how to express.

Many services focus only on discussing challenges.

My dual-integrated Counseling and Mentorship Model helps teens not only understand what they are experiencing but also build confidence, strengthen decision-making skills, improve communication, and apply what they learn in everyday life.

The goal is not simply insight.

The goal is growth, healing, and forward movement.

Parents and guardians play an important role in the growth process.

While confidentiality is respected and protected, parents receive appropriate updates, practical guidance, and tools to help support positive changes at home.

For participants in the Discover You Program, parents also receive a summary report and recommendations at the conclusion of the experience.

Whenever possible, I recommend in-person sessions, especially for teens.

Face-to-face interaction allows for stronger connection, deeper engagement, and a more complete understanding of what a teen may be experiencing beneath the surface. It also reduces distractions and creates a dedicated space where teens can focus on their growth and healing.

However, I understand that distance, transportation challenges, busy schedules, or living outside my service area can make in-person sessions difficult.

For those families, secure online sessions are available, allowing teens and parents across the Caribbean to access support from wherever they are.

My goal is simple: provide the most effective support possible—whether that happens in person or online.

Many families are balancing financial responsibilities while trying to get support for their teen.

Because every situation is different, I encourage parents to schedule a consultation so we can discuss available options and determine the most appropriate level of support for their family's needs.

Investing in support early often prevents challenges from becoming more overwhelming later.

Absolutely.

For individuals and families who would like faith integrated into their counseling experience, I offer Christian counseling that combines professional counseling principles with biblical wisdom, encouragement, and spiritual support.

For those who prefer a non-faith-based approach, general counseling services are also available.

My goal is to meet you where you are and provide support that aligns with your values, beliefs, and needs.
